cj7 motor ???

I was wondering if a yj 4cid. would bolt right into a 80 cj7 with the 4speed tranny?I want to keep it carberated. I have the 2.5 gm (iron duke?) but it's knocking baddly.Needs rebuilt or replaced. Also will a small block (305/350)bolt up to that tranny?? THX.

i was putting a new stereo insmy 2003 wrangler tj ..well in doing so the battery drain and i went to charge it and couldnt get the battery to charge so then i went to jump it and connected both the positive and the negative on both vehicles to the positive and negative terminals on both batteries. Ok guys, this is driving me nuts... People call the Chysler Lee Iaccoca-era 3.8L a weak engine. I don't see this at all! My 2010 Sport is a screamer stock out of the box. Granted I can't light tires up on the dry pavement in a staight line, but heck I couldn't do that with my old Stock '01 with 30s
